I had planned for the first trilogy to be about the father, the second trilogy to be about the son, and the third trilogy to be about the daughter and the grandchildren.Įventually, the two storylines would’ve presumably merged, and the new Jedi would’ve become embroiled in the fight to restore the Republic. It’s likely that he would’ve delved into the old Jedi Temple (or what’s left of it after it was turned into the Imperial Palace) for answers. I mean, he was the last Jedi left by the end of Return of the Jedi. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker would’ve been trying to rebuild the Jedi Order from…well, basically nothing.

Sounds like it’d get into Honor Harrington-levels of political in this hypothetical Sequel Trilogy, just the way I like it. All the while, Leia would’ve been trying to build the New Republic out of that same corpse.

Apparently, she was to battle gangsters (the Hutt cartel, perhaps?), crime lords ( including the surprise return of Darth Maul and the introduction of Darth Talon) and ex-Imperial warlords, each trying to carve out their own little kingdom out of the disintegrating corpse of the old Empire. So…a New New Hope, so to speak? Star Wars: Episode VII: Leia’s New Job? Leia after being informed that she now has to rebuild the Republic.Īpparently, George Lucas’ vision for his Sequel Trilogy would’ve featured Leia Organa/Skywalker as the star of the show. For one thing, it would’ve meant the return of Leia Organa/Skywalker as the new chosen one who would’ve founded the New Republic and bring balance to the Force. Included in this book is apparently George Lucas’ original plans for the Sequel Trilogy prior to him selling off Star Wars to Disney back in 2012.Īnd well, it’s apparently quite different from what Disney came up with for their own Sequel Trilogy. Official art by Terese Nielsen.Īpparently, a recently released book called The Star Wars Archives: 1999-2005 detailed the making of the Prequel Trilogy. If only Leia could’ve done this in canon.
